Cleaning and care

1. General information DESIGN FLOORS Design Flooring offers products with a polyurethane coating already applied at the factory. Regular cleaning is necessary in order to maintain the optimal appearance of the product in the long term and ensure a long service life. This will depend on the area of application and the frequency of visits, as well as on the choice of color and surface embossing of the decor. Refinement of the wear layer using a 2-component sealing system is available on request. Applying an additional coating is a useful option in certain situations (see point 7 “Important information”).
2. Preventive measures In order to protect the floors from mechanical damage caused by the introduction of dirt, water, sand, etc., it is advisable to establish appropriate cleaning zones. During the construction phase, it is necessary to protect the floors from mechanical damage caused by other trades.
3. Cleaning after completion of construction works. After the completion of construction work, the work area must be cleaned to ensure that all construction debris and adhesive residues are completely removed. This procedure is not the same as basic cleaning (see point 6). According to the drying time of the glue specified by the manufacturer, the floor covering must be cleaned with a PU cleaning agent (not a basic cleaning agent) diluted with water (according to the manufacturer’s recommendation). Waste water from cleaning must be completely absorbed, and the floor must then be neutralized with an appropriate amount of clean water. The cleaning process at the end of the construction work does not serve as a preparatory measure for the initial treatment (see point 4)! This procedure requires basic cleaning (see point 6).
4. Initial processing

Since the surface coating is already applied, no initial treatment is absolutely necessary. As long as the drying time of the glue is respected, the laid surface can be walked on immediately. Depending on the area of application and frequency, a high-quality PU sealing system from the company Dr. Schutz. In this case, the floor is protected from the mechanical effects of everyday use. 5. Daily cleaning and maintenance Daily cleaning in this case means manual cleaning with a conventional cloth. However, you must first remove coarse dirt with a broom or vacuum cleaner. The area can then be wet wiped with a PU cleaner according to the instructions provided.
6. Basic cleaning

Depending on the degree of soiling, the floor can be periodically cleaned with basic cleaning agent R (Dr. Schutz), which must be diluted according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. After the cleaning wastewater is completely absorbed, the floor is neutralized with clean, warm water until all dirt and cleaning residues are completely removed. After this procedure, if desired, an initial treatment can be carried out (see point 4). In the case of larger surfaces, it is recommended to use machines for cleaning and processing. If treatment products from another manufacturer are used, their application must be in accordance with that manufacturer’s advice.
